Resurfacing of various roads in Macassar and Firgrove

29 May 2023

The City of Cape Town’s Urban Mobility Directorate hereby advises the public of roadworks on various road segments in Macassar and Firgrove. The work is scheduled to start today, 29 May 2023, until Friday, 30 June 2023, between 07:30 and 17:00 on weekdays. This work forms part of the City’s regular maintenance to prolong the longevity of the road network.

The following streets and roads will be resurfaced in Macassar:

  • Snoopy Street, Charlie Brown Street, Vis Street, Fish Street, Kabeljou Street, Clifton Street, Brighton Road, Monaco Crescent, Belvedere Street, Décor Way and Auster Street.

And the following streets and roads will be resurfaced in Firgrove:

  • Grove Street, Eerste Street, Tweede Street, Jakaranda Avenue, Port Jackson Road, Sopraan Street, Bass Street, Alt Street, Soh Street, Hawaii Street, George Street and Oklahoma Street.

The affected roads will not be entirely closed. Instead, Stop and Go lane closures will be implemented. Road users must please adhere to the traffic accommodation signage and posted speed limits in these areas. Upon completion, all the road-marking that existed before the resurfacing work will be reinstated.

'Road users, residents and businesses will soon see improved conditions of these roads. We ask that the community please cooperate with our team on the ground while the project is ongoing. We are pleased to announce that 15 members of the community who are registered on the local job seekers database will be getting temporary jobs on this project. We encourage more job seekers to register on the City's job seekers database,' said the City's Mayoral Committee Member for Urban Mobility, Councillor Rob Quintas.
